The Quiet Girl

Set in 1981, 9-year-old Cáit is quietly struggling at school and at home. She has learned to hide in plain sight from those around her. She is sent away for the summer from her dysfunctional family to live with distant relatives. She blossoms in their care, but in this house where there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers a painful truth.

The Kentlands Film Society was established under the Kentlands Community Foundation in 2006 with the goal of bringing high quality, independent films to residents of the greater Kentlands/Lakelands community.  This mission has been carried out over each of the last 18 years with the showing of about 85 films to a collective audience of approximately 6,250 attendees.

All films will be shown at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.  Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and films start at 7:00 p.m.

Kentlands Film Society

The Kentlands Film Society is pleased to present its 18th season.  There are three films remaining in the five-film season on the following Sundays –  January 26th, March 16th and May 18th at 7 pm in the Gaithersburg Arts Barn.  Doors open at 6:15 pm.

Individual tickets for the remaining three films are $12.00 each plus a $0.86 fee per ticket.

The Duke

Based on a true story, in 1961, 60-year-old Kempton Bunton stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery. He sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend.
